Are you a small business owner who wears many hats? Maybe you do all the accounting, sales, and design of your business. Wow that’s a lot of hats, no worries though we get it and were here to help. That is why we rounded up some of the best design resources out there for small business owners to successfully create marketing materials for their brand.

Need icons for your website? Try some of these sites that have FREE icon packs you can download. Instead of paying a designer for custom icons you can find a pack that closely resembles what you need. Download them as. PNGs for WordPress sites you can upload them right into your templates.

We covered good stock photography in one of our previous blog post which you can read here, but what do you do with them if you want to create your own materials without hiring a designer who has professional tools such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.

I am sure many of you have heard of Canva, personally I have never used it since I have the Adobe Creative Suite but for materials such as social media posts, quick flyers and presentations Canva can be a great resource to place text, textures and patterns over the (now amazing) stock photography you have selected. Need a font that isn’t a default selection?

One of the greatest ways to set you brand apart is to not just choose a default font (we designers call them typefaces, fun fact) that comes on every computer. Sure Helvetica is a great default but it won’t make you stand out. My go to for free fonts is Google Fonts (BONUS they are all web friendly)

Some other paid options that can be a bit on the pricier side, but totally worth, are MyFonts and FontShop. There you have it some of my go to resources when designing for small businesses as well as alternatives to professional tools designers use. Hopefully these resources can help when you’re wearing your designer hat and make your business shine above the rest.
