Drawing inspiration from young designers to spark a vibrant yet simple brand for a non-profit.
Cultureworks Academy is a non-profit organization offering culturally relevant, transformative art and design experiences to youth from all backgrounds. We couldn’t be more on board with their mission, which is why we were beyond psyched when they reached out to us for a rebrand! Other than being aligned with Cultureworks’ mission, Dox Design had so many fun ideas running through our minds about how to enhance the visual brand to communicate their mission in an interesting way. Much of this inspiration came from their students’ work that we were lucky enough to see first-hand, as we were also part of the organization teaching design classes.
During the rebranding process, Dox Design took inspiration from the students’ curiosities as young designers and their confidence in using organic elements, like scribbles and paint blobs, in their creations. With their artwork as our muse, we created a modern primary color palette using dark navy as our backdrop. Once we defined the brand style, we applied it to multiple print pieces such as monthly newsletters, an annual report and more.
It has been a great pleasure to work with Dox Design on crafting our organization’s new brand. Kaila was always prompt and professional, and the project ran smoothly from beginning to end. Kaila asked great questions and provided graphics and guidelines that really got to the heart of our organization’s mission, and the templates she created for social media and newsletter communications are easy to use and effective. We love the marketing booklet she created, with the help of our Student Advisory Council, and our students in her Graphic Design class absolutely loved her friendly nature and were challenged by her creativity and breadth of skills.
